5th International Workshop on Advanced Scanning Probe Microscopy Techniques 2014

The 5th International Workshop on Advanced Scanning Probe Microscopy Techniques (ASXMT) was held in Karlsruhe (Germany) from February 24 to 25 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). More than 100 participants used this opportunity for fruitful discussions among the leading experts in the feld, and to learn more about state-of-the-art experiments and technical solutions during the oral presentations, poster sessions, and the exhibition.

SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH sponsored the Poster Award for the best young scientists elected within the workshop by all participants. The three winners were:

1st prize: Tim Sander (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), “Towards the formation of extended polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons doped with nitrogen ”

2nd prize: Shigeki Kawai (University of Basel),
“Quantifying the atomic-level mechanics of single long physisorbed molecular chains ”

3nd prize: Christian Steiner (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg),
“Hydrogen-bonded networks of triarylamine molecules on noble metal surfaces ”
