Energy Resolution
 a  Resolving Power of the PHOIBOS Energy Analyzer Series
FWHM measurement of an emission line as a function of the pass energy of the analyzer as well as the setting of the Iris aperture in the lens. Also Gas phase spectra measured at a synchrotron light source.
 
 a  Ultimate energy resolution of the PHOIBOS Energy Analyzer Series
We have measured the line width of  the Xe 5p3/2  gas line using the SPECS gas cell UGC 10 and the SPECS UV-light source UVS 300. With certain experimental settings an energy resolution of 0.5 meV can be achieved with the PHOIBOS analyzer.
 
 a  XPS performance of the PHOIBOS CCD Analyzer
XPS performance of the PHOIBOS 100 CCD analyzer in comparison to that of the standard 100 MCD-5 analyzer using a Ag sample with a broad illuminating X-ray source (Mg Kα, 300 W).
 
 a  Fermi-edge Measurements of a Single Crystal TiTe2 sample  at Low Temperature
The Fermi-edge of a single crystal TiTe2 sample was measured at low temperature. The diode closest to the sample read 12 K. A sample temperature of 17 K was estimated.  a  Spot Size Broadening using the Angular Dispersion Modes
In angular dispersive control the emission angle distribution is imaged rather
than the real surface. All lateral resolution is lost, but the emission angle
information is easily obtainable. These modes are ideal for UPS band mapping
